Towing the line
If you passed your test on or after 1st January 1997, then you can drive a car and trailer so long as the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes. An article on what you can tow and about taking the test.

Towing a Trailer
requires more knowledge and skill than normal driving and this puts additional responsibilities on a driver. You need to make sure that you understand the general principles of driving with a trailer before attempting to tow.

Buying a horsebox
The things we look for when we undertake a horsebox inspection are mechanically similar to those of any normal lorry purchase. But we also have to check the facilities that affect the horses such as partitions, ramps floor and drainage. Just checking the mechanical essentials alone requires a 91 point check-list.

Horsebox Annual Test
As the government agency responsible for vehicle safety and environmental standards, VOSA carries out a test every year on your horsebox to make sure it meets minimum road safety and environmental standards.

Horsebox Tachographs
Privately owned horseboxes are exempt from having a tachograph fitted. However if one is already fitted as a speedometer, it will still be exempt from the two and six yearly inspections as long as the seals remain intact.
