HOYS full report -
We set
off to HOYS on the Wednesday to have a few days up there to
give him the best chance to get used to the atmosphere. It
was chaos there, one arena for all horses to warm up in which
was a bit bigger than a dressage arena. By the end of three
days he was certainly used to horses of all shapes and sizes
all around him.
The night
prior to his competition day we were allowed to practice in
the Horse &Hound arena along with another 45 horses between
10.45pm and 12pm! More like a bit of trotting around as there
was a one way system in operation!
On the
day we presented for the vetting first and then went forward
to the main competition in front of a packed crowd in the
Horse & Hound arena. In goupd of three we came forward
and showed our flat work with difference of tempo and then
went onto to jump a cours of 6 varied fences one at a time.
Orion
was totally relaxed in the arena, showing his lovely free
movement and lengthening. He then went on to produce a fluid
and neat clear show jumping round before showing off his galloping
skills which of all the competitors he was obviously the most
confident as you would expect from his racing experience.

Having
a young stallion that is so versatile in temperament and has
proven speed will launch him as a successful young stallion
in the eventing world.
